Abel Ferrara Versus. Dominique Strauss-Kahn
Gerard Depardieu may starIn the past few years he's been operating more-or-less underneath the radar, but Abel Ferrara's possible next project might be his first in a while to draw in some mainstream head lines. Ferrara is arranging a drama according to last year's French political sex scandal turning around former IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn. Gerard Depardieu is circling the important thing role, with Isabelle Adjani apparently also thinking about the project.Strauss-Kahn was broadly likely to throw his hat in to the French presidential ring over time with this year's elections until he was charged with a significant sexual assault on the NY hotel chambermaid last May. The costs were eventually dropped considering conspiracy ideas and doubt concerning the maid's testimony. But Strauss-Kahn still accepted "moral fault" concerning the "encounter", and also the situation sparked some serious debate about France's gender politics, with half the establishment seeming to not have the ability to know very well what all of the fuss involved. One journalist sniffed it was basically "the skirt-lifting of the domestic".Ferrara's potential film appears simply to be inspired through the situation, instead of particularly based on it, and could also use the lives of other scandal-magnet worldwide political figures, for example former American leader Bill Clinton and merely-out Italian pm Silvio Berlusconi. Vincent Maraval, producer of Ferrara's recent 4:44 Last Day On The Planet, and potentially from the DSK project, states it is extremely beginning yet, but that Ferrara is "writing something inspired by Strauss-Kahn which will concentrate on addiction and political figures. It's more that compared to Strauss-Kahn scandal itself. As we feel there is a movie, we'll go further. We all do know that you have a real common desire among Depardieu, Adjani and Ferrara to operate together"Requested concerning the project by France's Journal Du Dimanche, Depardieu themself was cagey, but did tease that, "Generally, I am excellent at playing figures which i can't stand and do not resemble."Christ Zois, who co-authored Ferrara's The Blackout and New Rose Hotel, is again helping using the script. The apocalyptic 4:44 Last Day On The Planet, which stars Willem Dafoe (who had been also in New Rose Hotel), is presently on the festival circuit. Empire's Damon Smart first viewed it in Venice...
