All My Children Alum Mary Fickett Dies at 83
Mary Fickett All My Children star Mary Fickett died Thursday, according to The Associated Press. She was 83. Fickett, who won an Emmy for her portrayal of nurse Ruth Martin, was an original castmember on the ABC soap, which premiered in 1970. Fickett retired from All My Children in 2000. Ruth's marriage to chief of staff Dr.Joe Martin provided the bedrock upon which the town ofPine Valley was built. Their marriage was always a stabilizing force that represented 'home' for many." Before All My Children, Fickett starred alongside Bing Crosby in Man on Fire. She was also nominated for a Tony for her turn as Eleanor Roosevelt in Sunrise at Campobello. Susan Lucci on early Erica Kane, All My Children without Agnes and Sarah Michelle Gellar Fickett is survived by a daughter, a son, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
