Cameron Crowe Once Fired Ashton Kutcher Was Planning Marvin Gaye Biopic With Will Cruz
The final time Cameron Crowe directed a film, it had been 2005's 'Elizabethtown,' a bust which was panned by experts and audiences with equal fervor. Would everything has been different if was the star rather than Orlando Blossom? Most likely not, but that did not stop Crowe from first relationship the '70's Show' star for that role, simply to fire him afterwards. Within this week's problem from the Hollywood Reporter, the director accepted to being frustrated with Kutcher after casting him, eventually changing him with another person. When he cast in Elizabethtown. Kutcher ended up being still a part of 'That 70's Show,' and Crowe told him he needed to put aside a couple of days to concentrate only around the film. But sources associated with the project say Kutcher did not heed Crowe's words. Although he guaranteed he'd deliver once the cameras were moving, Crowe lost belief... "I'll spend several weeks dealing with an actress, and i believe I spent four several weeks with Ashton," Crowe states. "In a certain point, it's like, 'This isn't intended to be.'" Oof, poor Ashton is not getting the very best week, is he? Crowe also spoke to THR about his approaching film, 'We Purchased a Zoo,' and just how he wooed -- and, unlike Kutcher, tied to -- Matt Damon for that lead. It began when Crowe first visited the group of 'True Grit,' where he gave Damon a combination Compact disc (obviously) along with a copy from the 1983 movie 'Local Hero,' which in fact had a plot much like 'Zoo.' Damon was reluctant about signing onto a movie that may are a Disney version from the book it took it's origin from (compiled by Benjamin Mee), but Crowe did not need to make a project like this either. Based on the actor, "Crowe stated: 'I understand what you are likely to be scared of unhealthy version of the movie can be a movie you won't want to maintain. That is what I am scared of too." Then, after hearing Crowe's mix Compact disc, Damon eventually were built with a change of heart. Read much more about the building of 'We Purchased a Zoo,' a track-by-track report on the Compact disc Crowe gave Damon and also the canned Marvin Gaye biopic starring Will Cruz (unsure things to consider that) the director attempted to create, over on THR. 'We Purchased a Zoo' hits theaters on December 23, 2011. [via THR] [Photo: WireImage] Follow Moviefone on Twitter Like Moviefone on Facebook
